Pupil Parliament
The aim of the Pupil Parliament is to promote pupil leadership opportunities, enabling children to develop valuable communication, organisation and debating skills through key roles of responsibility and new experiences.
Each committee runs meetings with clear agendas where members take on different roles and responsibilities. These will be scheduled assembly times each term. The Chairperson sets the agenda and leads the meetings, the Secretary takes the minutes and the Treasurer is responsible for the committee’s budget. The committee members work together on their chosen projects, lead meetings with their own classes and discuss challenges and resolutions with different members of staff. This is to ensure that the views of the school are listened to, debated and acted upon so that the Pupil Parliament gets the best outcome for every project.

Parliament Update 23,10,25
On Wednesday 23rd October, the whole school took part in our Pupil Parliament meeting, continuing to build on the success of last year by offering every child the chance to lead, contribute, and have their voice heard. Now in its second year, the Pupil Parliament is helping children further develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving through meaningful roles and new experiences.
This year, each pupil has joined a new committee, bringing fresh energy and ideas to a wide range of important areas. Committees are once again led by a Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer, and include groups such as Food, Eco, Wellbeing, Sports, Art, and Reading. From encouraging healthy lifestyles to promoting sustainability, pupils are working together to create positive change across the school.
Our six Year 6 pupils have also proudly taken on ambassador roles, providing support and guidance to their peers while representing the values of our school community. Whether it is through planning initiatives, discussing challenges, or leading by example, the Pupil Parliament continues to shape a school where every voice matters and every contribution counts.
Parliament Update 18,11,25
At our recent whole school assembly, the Year 5 Pupil Parliament ambassadors proudly shared their exciting plans to make our school an even better place. From caring for the environment with eco activities and planting zones to promoting wellbeing through play days and kindness challenges, each committee had brilliant ideas. They spoke about encouraging sport for everyone, creative art and reading competitions, fundraising for good causes and improving e-safety. The ambassadors also helped choose our next whole school reward, which will be a Fun Day filled with activities for all. Their hard work and creativity show how committed our pupils are to making school positive, inclusive and full of opportunities.

Pupil Parliament Shares Latest Updates
Our Pupil Parliament committees recently met to discuss their latest projects and priorities across the school. As our Parliament Ambassadors were taking part in a special Art Enrichment Day activity, our Year 5 committee representatives stepped into the spotlight and shared the outcomes of the meetings with the whole school during assembly.
This was a wonderful opportunity for our Year 5 parliamentarians to develop their public speaking skills and confidently address a large audience.
The committees reported on a range of exciting initiatives, including plans for a summer fundraising event, the creation of an AI-generated St Hugh of Lincoln quiz, work to reduce food waste, and the development of new library guidelines. Other projects include caring for the allotment crops, launching a hedgehog house competition to support wildlife, auditing PE equipment, and promoting wellbeing strategies to help pupils manage change.
We are incredibly proud of the leadership shown by all our parliamentarians and look forward to seeing these projects continue to develop over the coming weeks.
