Pupil Parliament

The aim of the Pupil Parliament is to promote pupil leadership opportunities, enabling children to develop valuable communication, organisation and debating skills through key roles of responsibility and new experiences.

Each committee runs meetings with clear agendas where members take on different roles and responsibilities.  These will be scheduled assembly times each term.   The Chair Person sets the agenda and leads the meetings, the Secretary takes the minutes and the Treasurer is responsible for the committee’s budget.  The committee members work together on their chosen projects, lead meetings with their own classes and discuss challenges and resolutions with different members of staff.  This is to ensure that the views of the school are listened to, debated and acted upon so that the Pupil Parliament gets the best outcome for every project.

Parliament Update 5,12,24

Our school’s Pupil Parliament committees have been working hard on exciting improvement projects to benefit the whole school community. The committees, including Eco, RE, Outdoor Learning, PE, and Food, recently met with their adult partners to brainstorm ideas and take the next steps on their individual initiatives.

The Eco Committee has started by filling bird feeders to encourage more wildlife to the Creation Garden. They are also planning to participate in the Great British Schools Birdwatch 2025 and will be inviting the whole school to get involved in this wonderful opportunity to observe and protect local birdlife.

Meanwhile, the RE Committee has begun writing Christmas cards that will be delivered to our local community, spreading festive cheer and kindness. The Food Committee is taking action to promote sustainability, planning a survey to assess the school’s use of Fairtrade food and to find ways to reduce food waste during lunchtimes.

These committees are looking forward to sharing their plans and progress with Mrs. Grace at the upcoming Ambassadors meeting. It’s wonderful to see our pupils taking such initiative to make a positive difference, and we can’t wait to see how these projects grow and thrive in the months ahead!
