Governing body
St Hugh is founded by and is part of the Catholic Church. The Governing Body, working under the authority of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton, is responsible for overseeing all of the activities of the school.
Membership
The Full Governing Body comprises:
- Headteacher
- 7 Foundation governors (appointed by the Diocese);
- Teaching staff governor;
- Non-teaching staff governor;
- Local authority governor.

Constitution
The business of the governors is conducted through a series of regular meetings, both of the FGB and of a number of committees with specific responsibilities.
The permanent committees are:
- Admissions;
- Resources (covering Finance and Personnel);
- Learning environment;
- Children and learning;
- Marketing.
A small number of committees are constituted on an as-required basis, viz:
- Admissions appeals;
- Dismissal appeals.
