Year 5 (Larkspur)
Class teacher: Mr M George
Year 5 is the first year in the upper half of Key Stage 2.
Amongst the areas of work studied in Year 5 are Life in Tudor times, Life in Victorian Britain, Using data-loggers to record environmental change, Spreadsheets, A village in India, and Baking bread.
Swimming lessons take place in Year 5, at Guildford Spectrum.
All children in the class are currently learning to play the clarinet.
One highlight of the year is the trip in connection with learning about Victorians. Children and accompanying staff dress in Victorian costume and spend the day learning more about what it was like to live and work in a Victorian manor house.
Children in Year 5 have the opportunity to complete the first stage of Bikeability training and they also undertake activities helping them to understand more about fire safety.
